a young boy went to his father
and hungry he asked for a meal
but the father gave him nothing
and sent him instead out to steal

saying, “What kind of man do you think I am?”
the father said to his son
“For I’m hurting the same and you are to blame
so I'll teach you to trust no one”

the young boy went to his father
and asked him for shoes on his feet
but the father gave him nothing
and sent him to play in the street

the father said to his son

so the young boy grew like his father
angry and bitter when he died
and in heaven when the Lord gave him all he had to offer
the young boy coldly declined

to the Lord said his son

I don’t trust you or trust anyone
for to You I will do how I’ve been done”
