1.
O God, you have caused this holy night to shine with the brightness of the true Light: Grant that we, who have known the mystery of that Light on earth, may also enjoy him perfectly in heaven.
2.
Almighty God, you have given your only-begotten Son to take our nature upon him, and to be born this day of a pure virgin (repeat) Grant that we, who have been born again and made your children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by your Holy Spirit (repeat) Through Jesus Christ our Lord, to whom with you and the same Spirit be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen. Gloria in excelsis Deo Gloria in excelsis Deo
3.
Almighty God, you have poured upon us the new light of your incarnate Word: Grant that this light, kindled in our hearts, may shine forth in our lives; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. (repeat) This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine! This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine! This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine! Let it shine! Everywhere I go... All around the world... Shine on until Jesus comes...
4.
O God, who wonderfully created, and yet more wonderfully restored, the dignity of human nature, Oh.... Grant that we may share the divine life of him who humbled himself to share our humanity, your Son Jesus Christ our Lord Oh.... who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever, and ever, and ever. Amen.

about

This album was created for the congregation of Church of the Ascension (Pittsburgh, PA) as we journey together through Christmastide.

In Anglican liturgy, a collect is meant to "gather" the people and focus of worship into a succinct prayer during a given week of the church calendar. While collects were not intended to be sung (unless chanted), these musical settings are meant to assist in the memorization of these prayers, or simply accompany one's worship during the day or week that they are assigned.

This Christmastide comes on what is hopefully the tail end of a global pandemic, COVID-19. Chris & I "sheltered-in-place" the week leading up to Christmas in the confines of our attic with coffee, tea, a duvet cover, and Logic Pro in hand. Special thanks to the "Across the Pond Angel Choir" from the UK and US who virtually assembled about as quickly as the angels appeared to the shepherds. Thanks also to Travis Jarrett for taking a Zoom call to help me arrange the sound panels in our A-frame space. To all of you - your love, encouragement and humoring of my antics has meant the world to me.

May these songs bring you and your family tidings of comfort, joy and a little bit of fun.
